Neymar, who is part of a fabulous front thee with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in the Paris Saint-Germain team, will be eager to help the French giants win its first UEFA Champions League title. That would possibly be Neymar’s short term goal. However, in the long run, the Brazilian has many goals, including playing in Major League Soccer.

His contract at PSG runs through June 2025. The Brazilian international, who is a former Barcelona player, said he’d love to play in the United States one day but was not sure whether he would return to his home country.

Neymar said, “I don’t know, I have some doubts about that. I don’t know if I’ll play in Brazil again. I’d love to play in the U.S. actually. I’d love to play there at least for a season.”

Neymar said that the season in MLS is shorter than in Europe, which would give him more vacation time and help him play longer. The Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, on the other hand, allow teams to play for as long as 10 months at a time.

Neymar said laughing, “I’d play many more years.”

This isn’t the first time the 30-year-old has hinted about a transfer to Major League Soccer. David Beckham made a pitch to Neymar in a one-on-one interview for Otro two years ago.

Inter Miami CF co-owner said, “So, I’m going to get you to sign a piece of paper after, a blank piece of paper. It’s going to be a contract for Miami for 10 years time.”

Neymar on possible retirement

Neymar began his professional career with Santos in 2009 before joining FC Barcelona in 2013. His €222 million signing to PSG in 2017 remains the most expensive transfer fee in worldwide soccer history.

Neymar is Seleço’s second all-time highest scorer. His 70 goals are second only to Pele’s 77.

While the Brazilian seems to be looking forward to the sunset years of his career, he has no immediate plans to retire from the game.

Neymar is continuously under great pressure to deliver, particularly while playing for his country, and has said that he will continue to play as long as he can cope with the mental hurdles.

Neymar said, “I joke with my friends that I will retire when I’m 32. But it’s just a joke. I don’t know. Honestly, I will play until I’m mentally tired. If my mental health is OK and my body as well… Physically, I think I’ll still last a few years. But my mental health is the most important thing. My contract with Paris will last until I’m 34. So I’ll be playing [at least] until then.”

Neymar will have another opportunity to win his first World Cup with Brazil in this year’s tournament in Qatar, where he might also break Pele’s national team scoring record.
