The Ligue 1 fixture between Troyes and first-division rival Montpellier was postponed on Friday after 13 players at Troyes tested positive for COVID-19. It’s the second of this weekend’s fixtures to be called off because of the Coronavirus outbreak as Ligue 1 returns from its winter break. Saturday’s game between defending champions Lille and Lorient was postponed after a dozen Lorient players tested positive over the past week. Meanwhile the tournament organisers have announced that the rescheduled date and time of the match will be communicated.

On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain said Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler had tested positive ahead of its match against Lyon on sunday. Earlier in the week, PSG announced goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had also tested positive. Meanwhile Lionel Messi was ruled out of PSG’s 4-0 win against Vannes in the Coupe de France after testing positive, though he has since given a negative test and is clear to resume training.

A statement posted by the Parisians on their official Twitter account on Thursday read: “Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler tested positive this morning for Covid-19.

“They have been placed in solitary confinement and are subject to the appropriate health protocol.”

“It’s a very strange virus. We are following the situation of each player. We know that there may be more infections,” said PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino on Monday.

“We are a team that respects the controls and the obligation to test ourselves. We hope that there will be no additional cases.””

Di Maria has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season and has been in very good for the Parisians, having been directly involved in seven goals, a tally only bettered by Lionel Messi (10) and Kylian Mbappe (30).

Draxler, who had only just returned from an injury lay-off, has two goals and two assists from 14 appearances.

Sunday’s match between Angers and Saint-Etienne has already been postponed while Friday’s meeting between Bordeaux and Marseille is under threat.
