Following his departure from Manchester City, Ferran Torres has provided an update on his injury and squad registration. Torres joined Barcelona last week for a sum of around 55 million euros, and he was officially unveiled to fans at Camp Nou on Monday. The Spain international has been away from his homeland for two years, having enjoyed a great spell with Manchester City.

However, he is now back at Barcelona, where he will train with Xavi Hernandez, an opportunity he could not pass up. Only two issues remain. Torres, for starters, is now injured after breaking his foot earlier this season. He’ll be returning around the middle of the month, and it appears that he’s making improvement.

“The injury is going very well, within the time scale, I am now recovering my physical level,” he said.

The return from injury is great, but Barcelona is also dealing with salary concerns right now, and Torres won’t be able to join their La Liga team until they figure it out.

Barca are optimistic that departures and contract adjustments for existing players will be made, but there are no guarantees that Torres will be registered by the end of the January window, even though it is likely. And Torres is fairly certain that it will be the latter.

“I am totally relaxed,” he added. “They are doing everything possible, they are working on it, but I am relaxed and I know that in the end it can be done.”

Ferran Torres‘ highly-anticipated move to FC Barcelona was completed last Tuesday, as the young Spaniard left table-toppers Manchester City ahead of the January transfer window. The Catalan giants have reached an agreement with the defending English champions for the transfer of the striker on a five-year deal. The player has signed a contract for the next five seasons, until 30th June 2027, and his buyout clause has been set at a staggering 1 billion euros, according to their club’s website.

The transfer comes at an important time when Barcelona are struggling both domestically and in Europe. Xavi Hernandez-led side are currently lying in seventh place, having accumulated 28 points from 18 games and are two points adrift of a top four spot. In the Champions League, they got knocked out in the group stage and were relegated to the Europa League.
