Real Madrid have enjoyed a wonderful season in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti’s men have been the most consistent performers in Spain this season and the Italian manager is well on course to become the first manager ever to win the top five leagues in Europe. Madrid’s comeback win over Sevilla at the weekend along with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Osasuna has widened the gap at the top of the table after some help from their nearest challengers, Barcelona who surprisingly suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cadiz.

Los Blancos have 78 points from 33 matches and now find themselves needing just four points in their last five matchdays to be crowned kings of Spain. Now let’s look at some of the scenarios as to when Real Madrid can be crowned the La Liga Santander Champions 2021/22.

If Barcelona don’t drop points in their remaining fixtures

Barcelona currently sit on 60 points and the Catalan club can reach a maximum of 81 points. This means Real Madrid need only two more matches to win La Liga considering Barcelona win their remaining matches. A victory against Espanyol in their next league match will ensure that Madrid need just a draw against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano to be handed the La Liga title for the 35th time.

If Barcelona drop points in their next three fixtures

If Barcelona drop points in their upcoming fixtures, then it will make the job for their fiercest rivals all easier.

Real Madrid can be crowned champions as early as Sunday although in highly improbable circumstances if Barcelona manage to pick maximum of one point in their next two matches against Real Sociedad and Rayo Vallecano. If this situation is to happen then Madrid would be the official winners of La Liga 2021/22.

If Barcelona lose any one of their next two matches, then that will mean that Madrid could be crowned champions against Espanyol at the Bernabeu next weekend which would lead to a guard of honour from Atletico Madrid the following weekend.

Regardless of whatever scenario happens, Real Madrid winning La Liga is inevitable now and the coronation day for the Los Blancos is getting closer day by day.

They don’t play this weekend and their next league match is against Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu. On 8 May they are up against Atletico for the Madrid derby. Madrid then face Levante, Cadiz and Real Betis respectively in their last league outings of the season.
