Take a look at the full squad of the Patna Pirates for the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League.
Patna Pirates has been the most successful franchise in the Pro Kabaddi League with three titles under their possession. The Pirates completely outclassed the opponents in the last edition excluding the last game of the PKL. In the final, Dabang Delhi snatched the victory from Patna Pirates by winning the game 37-36 in a nail-biter. After reaching very close to becoming the champions for the fourth time, Patna had to settle as the runner-up of the eighth edition.
Before the auction for season 9, the team kept most of its members from the previous edition’s squad. However, Patna released its captain Prasanth Kumar Rai. This meant that the team had to pick someone who would perform the role of the leader. Another setback for the team was when head coach Ram Mehar Singh left the team and joined Gujarat Giants. The franchise has now chosen Ravi Shetty for the uphill task.
In the auction, Patna made the use of the Final Bid Match (FBM) card to get back raider Sachin Tanwar into the side. Last time, Sachin was instrumental in powering Patna to the finals as he collected 172 raid points in 23 matches. The team added the former skipper of Gujarat Giants, Rohit Gulia to the squad who is certain to become the man in charge of Patna. Earlier, the franchise had retained Iranian defender Chiyaneh for his brilliance in defending which got him the ‘Defender of the Tournament’ title last season.
