The Puneri Paltan is one of the franchises which has appeared in every edition of the Pro Kabaddi League since its commencement but never managed to win the title. With the likes of Rahul Chaudhari, Nitin Tomar, and Pawan Kadian as raiders, many considered them as one of the top teams in Season 8. However, the team had a disastrous outing in the starting phase of the tournament and finished sixth in the season. But, Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat carried Pune’s raiding department on their shoulders. A lot will be expected from this young duo during season 9.
The defense department consisting Alankar Patil, Harsh Lad, and Mahindra Prasad will be led by Fazel Atrachali. The team purchased Iranian star defender Fazel for a whopping Rs. 1.38 crores. With 368 tackle points, he is regarded as one of the best defenders in the history of PKL. He is just 23 points behind Manjeet Chillar to become the highest-scoring defender of all time. He is also one of the potential candidates to become the skipper of the Paltans this season.
