India fast bowler Harshal Patel was bought for a whooping sum of Rs. 10.75 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL mega auction. This comes after Patel produced a breakthrough performance in the previous edition of IPL as he picked up 32 wickets in the previous season of the lucrative tournament and became the only Indian bowler to achieve the feat.

Patel has been a journeyman cricketer and has seen his fair share of ups and downs in his career. He believes that the big money player tag will not affect his performance in the IPL 2022.

“I was not playing loose cricket when I was playing for Rs 20 lakh and I am going to play exactly the same as I played last year, whether I played for 10 lakh or 10.75 crores INR. It doesn’t really matter,” Patel said while talking on RCB Bold Diaries.

“There are no new skills. All I can hope for is more precision in my execution. I want to get tighter with my execution. If I can do it, I will be very happy.”

Harshal Patel set to adapt to conditions for RCB

Patel has scalped 78 wickets in 63 matches in the IPL thus far. His performance has not been consistent over the years but he would be expected to carry on his momentum in the upcoming season.

The India fast bowler, however, said that he will be ready to adapt according to the conditions and package his spells accordingly to reap benefits.

“What I bowl is what I know. That’s not going to change. What will change is how you adapt to these conditions, how you package your six balls because if I am playing in Chennai, I will be bowling slower balls, if I am going to play on these batting-friendly and bouncer pitches, I am going to package my over a bit differently. It’s just about adapting to different conditions, adapting to oppositions and I feel that any good player should be able to do that.”
