IPL Final: Clash of the top two franchises

Gujarat Titans will crosswords with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2022 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday. The debutant franchise Gujarat Titans led by a first-time captain, became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs, before becoming the first side to qualify for the final on Tuesday. Banking on their fine performance in the league stage and topping the table, Gujarat Titans qualified for the Qualifier 1 in the IPL 2022 playoffs, where they defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to book the final berth.

Rajasthan Royals will have a chance to avenge their defeat after losing to Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1. The Sanju Samson-led side clinched a thumping win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Qualifier 2 to seal the final berth. In the match, Virat Kohli looked out of touch once again with the bat for RCB as he was sent packing for seven runs. However, captain Faf du Plessis (25), Rajat Patidar (58) and Glenn Maxwell (24), played resilient knocks with RR fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy picking up three wickets each to restrict RCB to a chasable total of 157/8. In response, the in-form RR opener Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 103 off 60 deliveries to guide his side over the line with 11 balls to spare.
