Former India and RCB captain Virat Kohli is a fierce competitor on the field and hardly gives an inch. However, in the IPL 2022, Kohli had continued to make the headlines for wrong reason. He is going through a slump in form which has seen him register three golden ducks in the ongoing season of the lucrative tournament — the most — with his poor run becoming a major cause of concern in the cricketing folklore. But even though his form remains a concern for his well-wishers, Kohli personally believes that he continues to evolve as a person.

‘Virat Kohli in the happiest phase of my life’

Kohli wears his heart on the sleeves. He doesn’t shies away from showing his emotion. And at the current phase of his life as his Twitter bio say, he looks like a, ‘proud husband and a father’. A reflection of that very mindset was also visible on his recent interview for the official broadcasters of the IPL 2022 as he said that it is the happiest phase of his life. “I’m actually in the happiest phase of my life. I am not finding any self-worth or value in what I do on the field.

“I’m way past that phase. This is a phase of evolution for me. Not to say that I don’t have the same drive, my drive will never die down. The day my drive goes away, I’ll not be playing this game. But to understand that some things are not controllable, the only controllable you have are things that you can work towards, which is working hard on the field and in life as well and from that point of view, I feel that I am in the most balanced space that I have ever been and I am happy with who I am and how I am leading my life,” Kohli said on ‘INSIDE RCB’ show on Star Sports.

‘Virat Kohli not finding any source of encouragement’

Kohli has looked lackluster in most part of the season for RCB and even though he has changed his batting position it has not quite worked in favour for one of the most feared hitters in the world. He started his IPL 2022 campaign while batting at his ideal position of No.3 but switched as an opener after a horrific run. But that hasn’t helped him much as he got out for a first-ball duck in the match against SRH at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. It was a soft-dismissal as Kohli tried to flick the delivery from J Suchith drifting into his pads and found the fielder at short midwicket.

“I am not finding any source of encouragement or disappointment in what happens on the field. So, this has not been about myself, this is about the fact that I have not contributed to my team’s cause as much as I would have wanted to or I pride myself on, and that is something that always disappoints me, not what I do as an individual. It’s because I don’t want to let my team down,” Kohli said.
