The IPL 2022 schedule has been announced by the BCCI on Friday, March 6. The season begins on March 26 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) playing their first game against Rajasthan Royals at the MCA stadium in Pune on March 29 at 7.30 pm as well. It is the fifth game of the league and the first game for the respective teams as well.
IPL 2022 will see 74 matches taking place within 65 days. The BCCI added two new teams into the league to make it bigger and better. IPL 2022 thus will be a 10-team event with matches to be played across the four venues in Maharashtra as well. And, Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will host 15 matches each as well.

Moreover, the BCCI after proper discussion with the state government has decided to allow a 25 per cent crowd in the stadiums for the first phase of IPL 2022. However, SRH and Punjab Kings will play the last league game on May 22 at the Wankhede stadium. On the other hand, the final is scheduled to take place on May 29. The BCCI is yet to decide the venues for the playoffs and the final which will be announced soon as well.
