IPL 2022 Schedule: Delhi Capitals Full Schedule, Fixtures, Start Date, Time, and Venues

Delhi Capitals are one of the perennial underachievers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). And this is something the side will be desperate to change in the IPL 2022.

After all, the side formerly known as the Delhi Daredevils have had many great players in the ranks. Yet they have struggled at times to put together a cohesive squad.

They did well in the inaugural years of the tournament, but tapered off somewhat afterwards. It wasn’t uncommon to see Delhi struggle to even make the play-offs at one point.

The coming of JSW as part-owners and better squad planning changed that for the better. The Delhi Capitals then went on to become one of the better sides in the tournament.

Indeed, they made it to the finals of the 2020 edition of the IPL as well, only losing out to a dominant Mumbai Indians side.

And they will be keen to scale similar heights in 2022.

Delhi Capitals aim to put mixed 2021 behind them

Not that 2021 was all bad for the Capitals. Indeed, an early glimpse into their form actually saw them as favourites to win the title again.

The IPL 2021 was a weird season for teams, as the tournament saw an interruption due to a second wave of COVID-19 infections in India. And the remainder of the tournament took place in UAE.

But Delhi were the top side in the league stages – literally. They only lost 4 games and romped to a dominant 10 wins, finishing atop the league standings and securing their spot in Qualifier 1.

However, their form completely deserted them in the play-offs. They lost the first qualifier to Chennai Super Kings, but had a second bite of the cherry in Qualifier 2.

Amazingly, they lost that match too and were unable to make the finals as a result.
