Ravichandran Ashwin can bat, bowl and do the unthinkable on the field. He is an asset for any team that he plays for and looks to make it count through his unorthodox techniques. Ashwin, who was looking to add the leg-spin to his array of variations has picked up 11 wickets and scored 185 runs as a floater for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022.

Ashwin has batted at different positions for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing season of the lucrative tournament and retired himself out strategically to fulfill the demand of the team. He was also the first bowler in the IPL to inflict the mankading run-out which caused a massive uproar and questioned the spirit of the game to leave the cricket fraternity. However, Ashwin, has never stopped being himself on the pitch and has been effective with his approach.

Ravichandran Ashwin lives by ‘method, madness and courage’

Ashwin has his own principles and success mantra in his life. He lives by the three words ‘method, madness and courage’, closely and remains unbothered by the outside noise by his own admission. He might have been in and out of the national team set up in the recent past but he still remains one of the greatest spinners to have donned the Indian jersey.

“Method, madness and courage. Those are three words that I will put myself under. What I have done in my life is also based on all these three lines and whatever I end up doing from now on will also be on those three lines,” Ashwin said in a video interview to Rajasthan Royals. “I have always believed there has been a method to my madness. That madness is more of a perception for people that are looking at me and watching me. ‘What is he doing? Why is he doing all this? Why is he trying so many things? It is a matter of perception,” Ashwin added. “For me I have never bothered about what someone else has to think about me because I have believed firmly that I should succeed or fail on my own terms,” the off spin wizard said.
