IPL 2022: How did Delhi Capitals lose the match?

Delhi Capitals put on a moderate total of 159/7 on a two-paced wicket after being put into bat. West Indies power-hitter Rovman Powell (43) scored the most runs for his side off 34 balls. His knock was laced with one boundary and four hits with the fence while opener David Warner (24) and captain Pant (39) contributed with important cameos. Mumbai Indians pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 3/25.

Mumbai Indians looked controlled in the chase with a few erroneous DRS calls doing them a favour to chase down the total and complete their campaign on a high with five balls to spare. Ishan Kishan (48) gave the five-time champions a good start while Dewald Brevis (37), Tilak Varma (21), Tim David (34) and Ramandeep Singh (13 not out) played crucial knocks to take them home.

IPL 2022: Rishabh Pant blunder makes Delhi Capitals pay

However, the match could have turned out differently, if Pant had not made a major blunder with the DRS call. The incident took place in the 15th over of the match when David caught an outside edge off Shardul Thakur. Pant looked excited at first but the bowler was not convinced which led to the Delhi Capitals captain refusing to go for a review. The replays later showed that David had snicked the ball clearly before it ended up in the gloves off Pant.
