IPL 2022 LSG vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants to take second spot 

All-round RCB beat LSG by 18 runs in the IPL 2022 clash on Tuesday to take the second spot in points table.

All-round RCB restricted LSG to 163/8 in the chase to clinch victory by 18 runs in the IPL 2022 contest at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Tuesday. 

Chasing a challenging total, opener Quinton de Kock (3) could not add much to the team tally as his opening partner and captain KL Rahul (30) went about his knock cautiously and smacked the odd balls to the boundary.

KL Rahul-Krunal Pandya put up valiant effort

Rahul, however, failed to find support in Manish Pandey (6) as he was sent packing early. The LSG captain hit three boundaries and onne six in his 24-ball knock. 

Later, Krunal Pandya (42), played a terrific knock to keep LSG in the leather hunt with Ayush Badoni (13) and Deepak Hooda (13) chipping in with cameo knocks. The Baroda all-rounder hit five boundaries and two sixes in his 28-ball innings. 

Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinins (24), then, tried to guide his side past the finish line with Jason Holder chipping in with16 runs but it didn’t quite turn out to be their day with RCB bowlers displaying a displayed performance. 

Josh Hazlewood shines for RCB

RCB fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has resurrected life to the bowling attack. He picked up four wickets for 25 runs to be the pick of the bowlers for his side. 

Captain Faf holds the fort for RCB

Earlier, Faf du Plessis (96) returned to form to guide RCB to 181/6 in the IPL 2022 clash against LSG. 

Du Plessis went about his innings cautiously, after being asked to bat, even though he lost his batting partners Anuj Rawat (4), and Virat Kohli (0) in quick succession. 

However, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (23), brought some semblance to the RCB innings as he notched up a quick fire knock of 11 deliveries which included three boundaries and one hit over the fence. But young Suyash Prabhudessai (10) could not add much to the team tally with du Plessis continuing to anchor the innings from the other end. 

He combined well with his next batting partner Shahbaz Ahmed (26) to forge a 70-run stand for the fifth wicket. Ahmed hit one boundary in his 22-ball cautious knock. 

Later, the RCB captain, was involved in a 49-run stand with Dinesh Karthik (13 not out) before he was sent packing for his highest IPL score which included 11 boundaries in two sixes from 64 deliveries.

Jason Holder stars with the ball for LSG

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder displayed his brilliance with the ball and his catching effort on the field to send Maxwell packing as he returned figures of 2/25 with his Sri Lankan compatriot Dushmantha Chameera scalping two wickets as well.
