IPL 2022: Harpreet Brar congratulates Arshdeep Singh

Brar believed that the Wankhede Stadium wicket was suitable for spinners ahead of the match and reaped benefits out of it. He was mighty pleased with the wicket of Aiden Markram and congratulated his compatriot and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for getting his maiden call up for Team India.  “When we came here, we thought it was a good pitch for the spinners. I have conceded runs and so have the other spinners in the tournament, so I wanted to finish on a good note today.

“I just tried to bowl in the right areas and I wanted to keep calm under pressure. I tried to work on my skills as much as possible. Felt good after getting his (Markram’s) wicket. I got some turn and bounce on that ball, pleased that he got stumped. I am happy for Arshdeep, now that he will play for India. That is what every player dreams of, playing for their country one day. I need to improve on few areas before the next season. I have been away from home since 3-4 months, so I want to spend some time with my family.”

IPL 2022: Arshdeep Singh rises through the ranks

Arshdeep Singh has looked like one of the much-improved fast bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He has almost looked nerveless with his economical display at the death which has made him a regular in the Punjab Kings’ line-up and his captain Mayank Agarwal’s delight. But Arshdeep’s is not an overnight story.

The Covid-19 enforced lockdown period saw Arshdeep spending time with his father, who was a  former cricketer and a retired officer of the Central Industry Security Force (CISF), for training at their small gym at home. And later, once the IPL 2020 season was confirmed, Arshdeep found himself in the company of premier India fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the Punjab Kings camp. The hard-work continues to pay dividends for Arshdeep in the IPL 2022. So much so, that he was seen giving tips to premier South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. He, however, wants to keep going ahead and become a successful red-ball cricketer.
