The Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed history as two new franchises, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), became the teams to lead the table in their debut season. Led by Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat side became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2022 and has topped the table for most of the season. Bowling has been GT’s main strength with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami leading the pack. GT will be hoping for the consistency to continue as the team heads to the playoffs.
With 10 wins in 14 games this season, GT are firmly placed at the top with 20 points. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have confirmed their playoff spot with the win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The remaining two playoff spots are hotly contested. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are in the race to be the final two entrants. This weekend is going to be decisive as RR and DC play the final round of fixtures.
