IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the season

Jadeja was on Wednesday ruled out of the IPL 2022 to make the situation worse. The all-rounder had suffered an injury to his rib in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was later rested from the CSK squad in their next match before he was ruled out of the tournament and exited the franchise bio-bubble.

“He has an injury on his rib which he sustained during our match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (on May 04). We have only two games left and given his heavy international commitments, we thought he should not risk further injury,” Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of the franchise, was quoted as saying by cricbuzz. “He was feeling pain while bowling and batting. So we thought that it would be wise to let him rest. We have informed the BCCI as well,” Viswanathan said.

IPL 2022: Ravindra irreplaceable for CSK in many aspects

The Saurashtra-native was a part of the CSK set up from 2015 to 2018 before rejoining the squad in 2018. He has been a match winning figure for the Chennai franchise due to his all-round prowess and captain MS Dhoni gave a hint about his future during the toss in the match against MI on Thursday. The former India captain said that Jadeja has been a terrific fielder for their side which makes him an irreplaceable asset for the side.

“It has worked for us, batting first. We are playing with the same team. Someone like a Jaddu, he is one of those who helps us try out different combinations. It’s tough to replace him, don’t think anyone can field better, no replacement in that aspect. When a lot of is at stake, you need to do the homework and focus on the process, irrespective of the opposition,” the former India captain said at the toss, following the speculations on Jadeja’s future.
