The match between the Finland vs Canada Black will take on Friday, November 4 at 10:00 PM ET (November 5, 7:30 AM IST).
Zayne Parekh’s late game-winning goal helped Canada Black defeat Canada Red 4-3 despite having 20 more shots than Canada Red. In terms of scoring chances, Red was by far the superior side in the first session, but Canada Black scored the first goal. At 15:12, a Red defenseman in front was hit by Cole Beaudoin’s pass. Clarke Caswell was then in the right place to grab the loose disk and ram it home for the 1-0 goal.
The game’s tempo was altered by two goals scored in the opening 3:28 of the second quarter. At 22:20, Tarin Smith received a feed from Nathan Villeneuve and fired a shot that deflected off a stick in front of the goal for a power-play goal. After receiving a ball from Berkly Catton and blasting it high over Louka Cloutier, Michael Misa, the top predicted talent for 2025, scored just over a minute later to give his team the lead.
Then, at the end of the period, the sides switched goals 10 seconds apart. Justin Poirier completed a move started by Malcolm Spence at 34:12 to make it 2-2, but Tomas Mrsic scored at the opposite end on the very next stroke.
The competition was far from done given how back and forth it had been. At Defenseman Zayne Parekh tied the game at 3-3 with around seven minutes left in regulation by patiently gaining space for himself and firing the puck behind Red goalie Gabriel D’Aigle.
Black eventually prevailed thanks to a late power play. In order to defeat D’Aigle and secure the 4-3 victory, Parekh scored on a similar wrist stroke.
After defeating Finland 5-3 to begin tournament play, the United States was able to hold onto the victory despite blowing a two-goal advantage early on.
USA opened the scoring in the opening period with two goals. Brodie Ziemer scored at 12:10 after receiving a feed from Kamil Bednarik and sniping it over Petteri Rimpinen’s arm in Finland. Four minutes later, one of the top 2024 draft prospects, Cole Eiserman, grabbed a pass from James Hagens, a dependable teammate, near the right of the hashmarks and promptly beat Rimpinen with the wrister.
Although they were behind 10-9, the Finns managed to keep the shot total close. Early in the second, they retaliated by scoring two goals for themselves. First, with a man advantage, Joonas Saarelainen’s shot defeated Nick Kempf. The game was tied at two goals apiece five minutes into the second period when Roope Vesterinen scored on a breakaway after receiving a pass from Arttu Valila next to the Finnish goal.
The Finns found themselves ahead of the game’s midway point. After a sustained Finnish onslaught, Julius Miettinen would score. Kempf had made a wonderful glove stop, but the ball ultimately rebounded out and crossed the goal line.
In the third, the Americans required a greater answer, and they received it. At 2:04, Eiserman scored his second goal of the game after setting Shane Vansaghi up in front; Vansaghi outdueled Rimpinen to make it 3-3. After that, Bednarik added a goal of his own to make it 4-3 before the first half of the penalty period concluded thanks to an extended power play brought on by a double minor. Hagens’ empty-netter with seconds remaining clinched the outcome, as USA held on despite a reversal comeback attempt.
