Erie Otters will take on the Ottawa 67s in the OHL Canada on November 21 at Erie Insurance Arena. In a 6-3 victory over the London Knights on Friday night at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario, the Erie Otters won their fifth straight game. Oliver Bonk had a goal and two assists, George Diaco had a pair of assists, and Logan Mailloux of the Knights scored twice as London lost for just the second time in their previous six games. Five power play goals were scored by both sides overall. The Otters quickly took a 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the second period after the first period ended without a goal thanks to goals from Spencer Sova and Christan Kyrou on consecutive power plays.
At the 7:52 mark of the second period, Mailloux scored his third goal of the year on a man advantage for London, cutting the deficit in half. Prior to the middle period’s conclusion, Nathan Sauder scored again to give Erie a two-goal advantage. The score was now 3-1 Otters going into the final 20 minutes. Liam Gilmartin, a former Knight, increased Erie’s advantage to 4-1 by deflecting Carey Terrance’s long shot past Brett Brochu.
From then, the teams traded goals as London’s head coach Dale Hunter decided to play with an empty net on a few man advantages. After Oliver Bonk made it 5-3, Mailloux scored his second goal to make the score 4-2 again. Isaiah George and Ruslan Gazizov both recovered from injuries, although London was missing Ryan Del Monte and Ben Bujold (upper body) (lower body). Both are marked as daily.
