Team India registered a comfortable win on the back of Yastika Bhatia’s responsible fifty and a four-fer from Sneh Rana that thrashed Bangladesh by 110 runs in their must-win league match in Hamilton on March 22. Along with them, veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami too did well with the ball. With this, their hope of reaching the semi-finals of the ICC ODI World Cup remains intact as well.

Defending the 230-run total, the spinners, especially Sneh Rana (4/30) did an amazing job. She restricted the score as the wickets fell at regular intervals. India bowled out Bangladesh for 119 in 40.3 overs to register their third win of the marquee event. Moreover, this also helped Team India improve their Net-Run-Rate (0.768) as well.

Meanwhile, India made one change where they brought Poonam Yadav (1/25) in place of pacer Meghna Singh and this paid off. With spinners bowling from both ends on a slow track, Bangladesh found it tough to get going.

Earlier in the day, opting to bat first, India opener Smriti Mandhana (30) and Shafali Verma (42) added 74 runs for the first wicket but India suffered a mini-collapse soon after, losing both the openers in quick succession. Soon, the captain Mithali Raj (0) got out on a duck as India reduced to 74 for 3 in 15.3 overs.

Vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur (14) too failed to contribute much. However, Bhatia (50 off 80) and Richa Ghosh (26) then stitched 54 runs to take India past the 150-run score before Nahida Akter removed the latter. Meanwhile, Bhatia too got out after scoring a half-century.

Their dismissals brought Pooja Vastrakar (30) and Sneh Rana (27) in the middle who then added 48 off 38 balls to take India past the 200-run mark and eventually posted 229 runs on the board in their allotted 50 overs. The Mithali Raj-led team will take on South Africa in the final league match on Sunday as well.
