Day 6 of the Hockey World Cup 2023 will be jam-packed with four matches, two from Group C and two from Group D. On Thursday, the India men's hockey team, captained by Harmanpreet Singh, will face Wales at Bhubaneshwar's Kalinga Stadium.
An exciting last-second thriller was missing from the FIH Hockey World Cup 2023. Still, a dramatic 2-2 stalemate between the two-time world champions Germany and the reigning champions Belgium provided it. Belgium gained possession of the ball after stealing it, and Cedric Charlier flicked it to score from a tight angle that found the goalkeeper’s bottom right corner. Niklas Wellen’s goal gave Germany the lead again after Stadler’s right leg missed the ball. Tom Grambusch’s goal gave Germany the advantage, but with five minutes left in the game, Victor Wegnez equalised to conclude the match in a draw.
Korea fought back from a goal down to win the Asian derby after Japan took an early lead thanks to Lee Jungjun’s brace. Despite the lack of goals in the second half, the game was entertaining. In the end, Japan gave it everything it had and won three penalty corners, but they could not score, and Korea’s defence held on to earn all three points.
