The Indian men’s hockey team are on a quest to find a podium place at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The team has made it through to the semi-final of the men’s event where they will face South Africa. The men in blue recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory against Wales in their final Pool B match of the competition. Harmanpreet Singh was the star on the night as he scored a hat-trick and forward Gurjant Singh also chipped in with one goal. The men’s team of South Africa had a close shave against New Zealand in their final Pool game of the tournament but emerged 4-3 victors. The Indian team made history two years back when they won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, breaking a four-decade long dry spell. They will be hoping to go a couple of steps further this year at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games to bring home the gold.

The men’s hockey teams of India and South Africa are scheduled to face one another in the semi-final of the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Saturday, August 6. The match is set to start from 4 pm BST (10:30 pm IST) as per the official CWG website.
