With just two games to go in the La Liga season, Real Madrid are still in with a slight chance of leapfrogging leaders Atletico Madrid at the top of the table. Real are sitting in second place and are two points behind leaders Atletico in the standings. Manager Zinedine Zidane said he is proud of his squad for giving their all right till the end of the campaign. Speaking ahead of their match against Athletic Bilbao, he said, “I’m very proud of my squad. After everything we’ve been through, we’ve just kept on working and been focused on the fact that we could win things come the end of the season.”

“My players have given their all, they’re giving their all and when you’re a coach, that’s as good as it gets. I’m proud of them every season because they always battle and compete. They enjoy playing and training and that has certainly been the case this year because we’ve had so many difficulties, what with the injuries and some strange things.”

“I’m delighted with what they’re doing. The players always want to compete. This is a side that has kept on working and has tried to do things properly and that’s why I’m perhaps prouder this year than every before. I’m delighted with how they’re doing.”

‘Strong start’

Zidane is eager to make a strong start against Bilbao in the crucial clash on Sunday. “We’ll be looking to make a strong start and compete throughout the 90 minutes, just like we did the other night,” he added. “We have to worry about the things we can control, which is our game tomorrow. We can’t control anything else. We want to get the three points. We’re up against a very good side who are performing really well as a team and we’ll be giving our all.”

With only two games left in the season, Zidane assures that his players will give their all in both those games. “We head into the last two games in very good shape after having won on Thursday night. We put in a really good performance in both attacking and defensive terms and that makes me think that we’re ready for the last two matches,” he added.

“We’ll be giving our all and go all out, I’ve got no doubt about that and that’s why I’m so proud of my players. Our destiny isn’t completely in our hands, but we know that we’ve got a chance. We’re going to give our all in these last two games.”
