Wuhan will play host to Shanghai Port in a Chinese Super League fixture at Puwan stadium on Saturday. Both slides are heading into the tie on the back of defeats. Wuhan were defeated 2-0 by Shanghai Shenhua in their last match while the visitors lost 2-1 to Wuhan Three Town on Sunday. The Result left the home side languishing at the eighth spot with nine points from five games while Shanghai Port are two places below them, having pocketed six points from a posible 15. Both sides will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they square off this weekend.

On Monday, Wuhan had a really disappointing game at Shanghai Shenhua as they failed to register even a single shot on target compared to seven by their opponents.  Li Jinyu’s side went behind to Jianrong Zhu’s strike on the stroke of half time and Alexander N’Doumbou doubled the home side’s lead in the 72nd minute. Han Army has had a decent start to the 2022 CSL season, winning three of their opening five games. However, off late, Wuhan’s record on home turf hasn’t been very great, having won just one of their last five home games.

Shanghai Port, on the other hand, saw their two-game winning run come to an end against Wuhan Three Towns. Ivan Leko’s men found themselves two goals down at half time courtesy of strikes from Marcao and Hang Ren before pulling one back through Cherif Ndiaye in the 57th minute. It was the Red Eagles’ third league defeat of the season. Prior to the loss at Puwan Stadium, Leko’s side got the better of Hebei CFFC and Guangzhou with a scoreline of 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.

Probable Lineups

Brown Forbes, who scored for Wuhan in their 3-1 loss to city rivals Wuhan Three Towns, earlier this month, is expected to lead the attack alongside Hu. Xu Dong, who missed the last match due to a knock is doubtful for Saturday’s fixture. As for Shanghai, Chunxin Chen was subbed off after just 36 minutes in the previous match and therefore the 24-year-old midfielder is a huge doubt for the trip to Wuhan. Paulinho should lead the Shanghai attack with Feng and Liu in support.

Wuhan probable starting lineup: Wang; Liu, Viana, Li, Chen; Liu, Nie, Kajevic, Hu; Hu, Brown..

Shanghai Port probable starting lineup: Yan; Li, Wang, Zhang; Lu, Yang, Muzepper, Ndiaye; Liu, Feng, Paulinho
