Preston had defeated Huddersfield 4-1 in the previous round of the EFL Cup, courtesy of a brace from Ali McCann and one goal each from Troy Parrott and Brad Potts.
Wolverhampton Wanderers will host Preston North End in the second round of the EFL Cup at the Molineux stadium on Tuesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League fixture last weekend. Preston, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw against Watford in a Championship fixture on the same day. Preston had defeated Huddersfield 4-1 in the previous round of the EFL Cup on August 9.

The Lilywhites thrashed Huddersfield courtesy of a brace from Ali McCann and one goal each from Troy Parrott and Brad Potts. Ryan Lowe’s side has made an unbeaten start to their new championship campaign, recording one win and four draws so far to sit at the ninth spot in the standings. Wolves, on the other hand, also didn’t have a great start to their 2022-23 Premier League campaign, losing two of their opening three games to be languishing at the 18th spot in the table. In their recent outing against Spurs, Harry Kane’s 64th-minute strike was enough to separate the two sides.
