Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, when they travel to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. This will be the third meeting between these two sides in the last couple of weeks. Meanwhile, both clubs are heading into the match on the back of defeats. The hosts were thrashed 3-0 by Manchester City in the League last Sunday, while Liverpool suffered a 2-1 FA Cup loss to Bright & Hove Albion, on the same day. As of now, the Reds are occupying ninth spot in the English top tier standings, having collected 29 points from 19 games, while the visitors, who have played a game more, are languishing at the 17th position, with just 17 points to their name, level with 18th placed Bournemouth, who are in the relegation zone.

Wolves have won just one of their last seven matches across all competitions, and that lone victory came against West Ham Ham United in the league on January 14, courtesy of Daniel Podence’s lone goal early in the second half. After that, Julen Lopetegui’s side lost to Liverpool in FA Cup third round replay, three days later, before being thrashed by Man City, last time out. Erling Haaland’s fourth hat-trick of the season handed Wolves their 11th top flight defeat of the campaign. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring with a 40th-minute header, before completing his treble ten minutes into the second half, converting a 50th minute spot-kick and tapping home four minutes later.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are winless in their last three league-matches, losing two of them. After a dull 0-0 draw against Chelsea in Jurgen Klopp’s 1000th game as a manager, the Reds traveled to Falmer Stadium for the FA Cup last-16 clash. Although Liverpool took the lead through Harvely Elliott’s 29th-minute strike, Lewis Dunk leveled the score, ten minutes later, before Kaoru Mitoma netted a 92nd minute winner for the Seagulls. Klopp’s side will not be retaining their EFL Cup or FA Cup crowns this season, therefore Liverpool can now focus purely on their Premier League and Champions League exploits.
