Winger Arnaut Danjuma is in scintillating form since joining Villarreal this summer from Bournemouth. The 24-year-old spent two seasons with the Championship side before joining the Yellow submarine for a five-year deal worth 20 million euros, plus 2million to 3million euros in variables. With the deal, the Dutchman became Villarreal’s second most expensive signing of all time, only after Paco Alcacer. Since joining the Spanish club he has been very impressive in front of goal, scoring four times in La Liga and one in the Champions League so far.

Villarreal boss Unai Emery has been the one to push for Danjuma’s transfer this summer and the winger is proving the former Arsenal manager’s decision to be absolutely right. Danjuma scored a brace in the last match against Real Betis.

Few days before the game at El Madrigal, Danjuma produced a man-of-the-match performance in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in the Champions League fixture. Despite losing to Cristiano Ronaldo’s stoppage time winner, it was a very good performance from Villarreal at Old Trafford. Emery’s side could have won the match if not for the heroics of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Portuguese superstar Ronaldo goal.

Meanwhile the 24-year-old has also pointed out Emery’s impact on his impressive start to the season.

“I feel very good here. I need to give a massive thanks to Unai Emery,”  he told the club website

“The coach is really busy with me and he really helps me to perform with the team.

“I’ve integrated well with the culture of the team, and my teammates trust me.”

Villarreal are the current Europa League champions and are unbeaten in La Liga so far with five wins and two draws. Danjuma insisted on his ‘hunger’ for success.

“My stats have been good so far. I’m looking forward to performing more for the team. I’m very hungry, for me, this is only the beginning,” he continued.

After the international break, Danjuma would be hoping to continue his good form as Villarreal will host Osasuna on October 17 before traveling to Bern to take on Young Boys in the Champions League group stage fixture.

Villarreal are consistent against good opponents: Danjuma

“Playing well helps you win, and winning gives you confidence,” he said.

“The draws [against Real Madrid and Real Mallorca] were penalizing us. The only way of the draw against Madrid being a good result was if we won [against Betis].

“There are certain things which are making us feel good, and that’s giving us confidence.

“We were consistent against a good opponent like we were against Real Madrid and Manchester United. We wanted to link up well with Danjuma and Yeremy.”

The Yellow Submarine has produced some impressive performances this season, like the 0-0 draw against Real Madrid. Villarreal’s front three Danjuma, Paco Alcacer and Yeremi Pino have been growing in stature after every game. The wingers Pino and Danjuma seem to have developed a very good understanding and are causing all sorts of problems to the opposition defence with their pace and trickery.

Villarreal’s success this season would hugely depend on the front three especially Danjuma who is also turning out to be a decent goal scorer.
