Leandro Trossard is a Belgian professional footballer who plays for the Premier League side, Arsenal. Trossard is a versatile attacking threat with a wide range of field positioning. While he can receive the ball out wide and hug the touchline, he is strong enough at receiving it from a variety of angles to take up the ball in more central locations. He is also remarkably good at ball protection, which enables him to keep control or draw fouls in more crowded situations. Trossard joined Brighton on a four-year contract with an additional year option on June 26, 2019, after both parties reached an agreement. On August 17, Trossard made his Seagulls debut, scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 home tie with West Ham United. In the 3-3 away draw at Liverpool, Trossard became the first player of Brighton to score a hat-trick in the Premier League. Trossard’s hat-trick made it so that he had four goals in two games at Anfield. On October 22, Trossard scored his 100th career goal, but Manchester City ultimately defeated Brigton 3-1.
However, Trossard’s relationship with the team quickly deteriorated in early January 2023 after manager Roberto De Zerbi threatened to suspend the player for skipping a training session. De Zerbi claimed he did not appreciate the player’s demeanour or attitude. His agent Josy Comhair responded by accusing De Zerbi of insulting the player in front of his teammates and said that a move was the right course of action. As a result, Arsenal declared the signing of Trossard to a long-term contract on January 20, 2023. The fee was made up of a £20 million guaranteed sum and an additional £7 million in net potential add-ons.
Trossard is currently married to his long-time girlfriend Laura Hilven. The couple started dating each other in 2014 and have been married since 2019.
