Watford had a disappointing pre-season, recording just one win from four outings. The Hornets are still searching for their first home league win of 2022. Watford have made a number of summer signings to bolster the squad, bringing in Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Mario Gaspar, Rey Manaj and Ben Hamer. Sheffield, on the other hand, came close yet so far to a promotion last term. Meanwhile the Blades haven’t had a great summer, losing three of their last four pre-season friendlies away to Scunthorpe United, Mansfield Town and Barnsley, but victories over Lincoln City, Casa Pia and Burton Albion did come their way.
Watford midfielder Imran Louza is sidelined due to a knee injury, while the rest of the team is fit and good to go. Pedro is likely to lead the line with Sarr and Dennis in support. Celeverly, Kayembe and Gosling are ecpected to form the midfield trio. New recruit Gasper has had little time to get acquainted with his new teammates and may therefore not be involved on Monday. As for Sheffield United, Jack O’Connell, Jayden Bogle, Adam Davies and Tommy Doyle are unavailable for selection because of injuries. Sander Barge could pull the strings in the midfield, with Brewster and Khadra spearheading the attack.
