Wales will host Netherlands in a UEFA Nations League fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday. Both sides are heading into the tie on the back of impressive wins as Wales edged past Ukraine 1-0 to qualify for the finals of the World Cup in Qatar later this year, while Netherlands thrashed the mighty Belgium 4-1 last time out. Meanwhile the Dutch have an exceptional record against Wales, having won all eight matches between the two sides. The Dragons are yet to record an official win against Netherlands and will be aiming to create history on Wednesday.

Wales booked their ticket to the World Cup finals courtesy of Andriy Yarmolenko’s own goal in the 34th minute. Bale’s free-kick deflected off the midfielder and went past Heorhiy Bushchan and into the back of the net. Rob Page’s side now has three more Nations League fixtures to navigate during a grueling six-day period. The Dragons spent two years vying for promotion in League B before clinching a spot in the big time, and defeat to Poland represents their only loss in 11 fixtures across all competitions. Meanwhile Wales are unbeaten in their last 19 games at home turf.

On the other hand, Netherlands produced a ruthless attacking display to humble the World’s second-ranked nation earlier this month. Memphis Depay scored a brace while Steven Berwijn and Denzel Dumfries netted one goal each to thrash the Red Devils in front of their home fans. Belgium managed to score a late consolation goal through Michy Batshuayi. Van Gaal’s side sit at the top of the League A Group 4 with one game down and five to go. Meanwhile Netherlands’ last defeat came up against Czech republic in their shock Euro 2020 round of 16 exit.
