England have a chance to seal the top spot in Group B when they take on Wales in their final group match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Tuesday night. The Three Lions will look to put their disappointing performance from their last match behind them when they face Wales. Gareth Southgate’s side started the tournament with flying colours but returned to their trademark passive style of defensive football in their last game. Meanwhile, Wales’s chances of qualifying from the group are hanging by a thread following their shock loss in their last game.

Wales began the tournament with a respectable 1-1 draw against the United States. They were expected to build on that result, however, Rob Page’s side suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Iran. That result means Wales now have to beat England and hope the other game in the group ends in a draw in order to reach the knockout stage. Meanwhile, England played out a disappointing goalless draw against the USA in their last match. All the positivity their supporters gained from the 6-2 win over Iran in the opener has now vanished. Even though qualification now seems a formality for England, their priority would be to secure the top spot.

There are not many injury concerns for both sides and the few changes they might make would be more tactical than forced ones. Wales will definitely miss their goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey following his red card in the last match. They have a good replacement in Danny Ward for the upcoming contest. Otherwise, they do not have any noticeable injury concerns. On the other hand, England have received a few injury boosts with the return to training for Kyle Walker and James Maddison. Walker among the two has a better chance of starting and he could replace Kieran Trippier. It will also be interesting to see who among Phil Foden or Mason Mount starts for the Three Lions.
Wales possible line-up: Ward, Mepham, Rodon, Davies, Roberts, Ramsey, Ampadu, Wilson, Williams, Moore, Bale
England possible line-up: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Sterling, Kane
