There is no stopping Liverpool this season. Be it home or away, bottom half or upper half teams, the Reds never surrender. This never-say-die attitude was evident in their remarkable come-from-behind victory in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal. At the half-time interval, Jurgen Klopp’s side found themselves 2-0 down. The aggregate score was leveled and anything was possible at that stage. However, an incredible turnaround in the second half saw the Reds win the match 3-2 and the tie 5-2 on aggregate to reach another Champions League final under Klopp. Let us look at the talking points from the action-packed game:

Liverpool reach third Champions League final under Jurgen Klopp

It goes without saying that Jurgen Klopp is the best thing that has happened to Liverpool football club in a very long time. Not only has he made a struggling side into a Champions League regular, but the amount of silverware they are competing under the German coach is mind-blowing. Playing a high-pressing style and an attractive brand of football, Liverpool have already ended their 30-year wait for the league title, which they managed in 2020.

It is not only their domestic form that has got the attention of many but their European run is equally impressive. Liverpool have now reached its third Champions League final appearance under Klopp. In 2018 final, they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid, but they made up for it by winning the title next year in 2019 against Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. It is to be noted that in his first season, Klopp guided the Reds to the Europa League final before losing to Sevilla 3-1.

The Reds are the team to beat this season

The victory on Tuesday night means Liverpool will play all the possible matches this campaign. The Reds will play a total of 63 matches at the end of the campaign in all competitions. The two domestic cups – Carabao Cup and FA Cup – each have six matches, while the Champions League will have 13 games. The Premier League amounts to a total of 38 matches.

The last time Liverpool played every possible game in a season was way back in the 2000-01 season. Under Gerard Houllier’s tenure, the Anfield outfit won three trophies – League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup. In the Premier League, they had finished third. After that Liverpool had to wait 21 years to repeat this incredible feat.

Liverpool maintain their quadruple quest alive

Jurgen Klopp’s side now have two finals to play in May. In the FA Cup final, they will once again face Chelsea, while their Champions League final opponents are yet to be determined. Sitting second in the Premier League table and only a point shy of leaders Manchester City, Liverpool are very much in the hunt for the league title too.

Not to mention that the Reds have already won the Carabao Cup final, beating Chelsea in a thrilling penalty shootout. It does not get better than this for a Liverpool fan. With only a few weeks left in the season, the Reds could have a memorable ending to the campaign. It is not clear how many titles Liverpool can win at the end of the season, but the mere fact that they are competing for every possible trophy shows how far they have progressed as a football club.
