Vikingur are heading into the tie on the back of a 3-2 win over IA in their domestic league fixture last Saturday. Goals from Logi Tomasson, Viktor Andrasson and Erlingur Agnarsson helped the Vikes secure the win and move to 25 points from 12 league games, just six points behind leaders Breidablik. Arnar Gunnlaugsson’s side have been in pretty good form, winning 9 of their last 10 games across all competitions and their only defeat was against Malmo last week. The Icelandic club has netted 21 goals in their last six games while conceding just six times.
Malmo on the other hand, thrashed Varbergs BoIS 3-0 in their last outing. Jo Inge Berget, Anders Christiansen and Veljko Birmanceviz netted for the Swedish Champions in the Allsvenskan fixture last Saturday. Milos Milojevic’s side are already playing catch-up when it comes to defending their Allsvenskan title as they are sitting at the 5th spot in the table with 24 points, four behind the leaders Hacken. Despite a poor start to the campaign, the Blue Ones have managed to pull their socks up and get themselves back to winning ways, registering five victories from their last six games across all competitions.
Vikingur defender Ingason who netted in the first leg, will be forced to watch the match from the stands after his sending off and subsequent suspension. Gudjonsson could come into the starting eleven alongside Agnarsson and Andrasson in the attacking department behind centre-forward Hansen.As for Malmo, midfielder Erdal Rakip picked up a knock in the previous game and is doubtful for the decisive game. Christiansen, who came off the bench to score in the weekend, could be handed a start in the midfield alongside Pena Larsson and Olsson. Toivonen and Birmancevic are expected to be the strike partners.
