ATK Mohun Bagan boss Juan Ferrando was delighted with his side’s come from behind 3-1 victory against SC East Bengal in the Kolkata derby at Fatorda Stadium on Saturday. Young Kiyan Nissari came off the bench to score a brilliant hat-trick to help his side to the top four in the Indian Super League (ISL) points table. Kiyan scored in the 64th minute and then struck twice in stoppage time to secure all three points for his side. SC East Bengal broke the deadlock through Darren Sidoel in the 56th minute before David Williams missed a penalty kick.

Kiyan was introduced just after the hour-mark and he made an impact within three minutes of coming on to the pitch. Liston Colaco’s cross from the left flank wasn’t dealt with properly by the SCEB defense and Kiyan pounced on the opportunity to curl the ball into the bottom corner.
ATKMB put their nose in front in the second minute of the injury time. David Williams’ header from Liston’s cross struck the post before the rebound fell to the path of Kiyan. He kept his composure to slot home with a first-time half-volley.
A minute later, the 21-year-old completed his hat-trick. Manvir singh made a darting run into the penalty box before Adil Khan made a sliding challenge to stop the forward. But the ball fell nicely for Kiyan to fire in and seal the victory.
When asked about Kiyan, in the post-match press conference, Ferrando said: “I’m happy for Kiyan because he’s working hard in the training. He’s improving a lot in training sessions and today when the game was in a very difficult moment, we decided to change the system.
He added “We use Kiyan like number nine. And of course, I’m very happy about his success in his role because he’s a young player. When a young player has amazing games, I’m very happy”
The win helped ATKMB back into the top four with 19 points from 11 games. It was the Mariners’ third win in the last five games and they are now back in the race for the play-offs after struggling a bit in between.
When asked about the Derby win and getting back into the top four, the Spanish tactician said: “it’s important because in front of us we have nine games, Mumbai and Hyderabad are amazing. We have important games and I think it’s very important for the confidence of the players.”
