Manchester City are gearing up for an important Premier League fixture away from home, as they travel to North London to take on Tottenham Hotspur. This game could have huge consequences in the title race. For long periods this season, there was a three-way title battle between Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. In recent weeks, Liverpool dropped out of the race, leaving City and the Gunners fighting for the top spot.

Arsenal have done exceptionally well this season, especially since the turn of the year. Their narrow 1-0 win away to Manchester United in the Premier League at the weekend meant the Gunners are currently sitting at the top of the standings by one point. However, second-placed and defending champions Manchester City have a game in hand, which is away to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.

Injury update on Jack Grealish and Nathan Ake

Ahead of the all-important contest, Pep Guardiola gave an injury update on Jack Grealish and Nathan Ake. “Jack is recovered from illness. Nathan was much better yesterday, Now we are going to train and we will see if he can train later today. [His injury is] not serious but it’s only three days since last game to tomorrow,” Guardiola, quoted on the club’s website, said in his pre-match press conference.

Now the attention turns to the pivotal away game at Tottenham. It is not an easy place for any side to travel but City and Guardiola require the three points in order to reclaim the top spot from Arsenal. “It’s obvious I would say. We have just one option, win the game. We will go from there. I have a theory as a manager, what we have done yesterday is over. [From the last four Premier League games,] 15 goals is fine and gives us the points to be here. It doesn’t give you an extra thing tomorrow for when we start the game,” he elaborated.

The manager added: “We know if we don’t win we will not win the Premier League. It’s what we have to do to know exactly what they are as a team. So demanding always has been there, but especially this season because they are more proactive than in the past than with different managers. They are so aggressive, it doesn’t matter what’s happening, they were losing 4-0 in Anfield and they continued, continued, continued to do the game plan and stick to what they believe. The difficulty is there. But at the same time we know what we are playing for. To give us a chance at home dependant on us. That’s our mindset.”
