Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are set to play each other for the second time in almost two week’s time, as Spurs host Man City in a Premier League fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. The latest clash between these two clubs ended in a 4-2 victory for Man City. Although Tottenham netted twice on the stroke of half-time, the Cityzens came out all guns blazing in the second half and scored four times through Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland and Riyad Mahrez. Meanwhile, both sides were involved in FA Cup fourth round action last Saturday, with Spurs thrashing Preston North End 3-0, while Man City edged past Arsenal 1-0. 

Spurs netted three times against second tier side Preston without reply to enter the fifth round of the Cup competition. Son Heung-Min scored a second half brace, before new signing Arnaut Danjuma’s 87th-minute effort sealed the win for Tottenham at Deepdale. Prior to that, Antonio Conte’s side edged past Fulham in the league, through Harry Kane’s lone goal on the stroke of half-time. It was their 11th top flight victory of the campaign, taking their points tally to 36 from 21 outings, four adrift of the top-4.

Man City, on the other hand, secured a dominant 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last league match, before getting the better of Arsenal to enter the fifth round of the FA Cup. Erling Haaland’s fourth hat-trick of the season helped the Cityzens to take all three points against Wolves at Etihad Stadium, while a sublime finish from Nathan Ake was enough to send Man City through to the quarter-finals of the Cup competition. It was Pep guardiola’s side’s third consecutive home-win. Meanwhile, the Spanish tactician’s side now sit at the second spot in the English top tier standings with 45 points to their name from 20 League matches, just five adrift of leaders Arsenal.
