Manager Jose Mourinho has been sacked by English club Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs as they are popularly known, decided to dispense with Mourinho after just over a season and half in charge. This will be the third English club that the Portuguese has been sacked from, the previous two being Chelsea and Manchester United. For the first time in his illustrious career, Mourinho will leave a club without winning a single title. Spurs currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, five points behind West Ham United who occupy the fourth and final UEFA Champions League place. It is not clear at this point who will replace Mourinho.

“The Club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties. #THFC #COYS,” read the tweet from the official twitter account of Tottenham Hotspur.

Levy Describes Mourinho As “True Professional”

Chairman Daniel Levy termed Jose as a “true professional” who showed enormous resilience during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution,” he said in a statement.

Ryan Mason will be the Tottenham manager until the end of the season, after Mourinho being sacked. Chris Powell will also work with him.
