Toronto will host Columbus Crew in a Major League Soccer (MLS) fixture at BMO Field on Thursday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a 2-1 win over Atlanta United on Sunday, while the visitors played out a goalless draw at Real Salt Lake on the same day. It hasn’t been a great MLS season for both clubs as they are languishing at the wrong side of the table. Toronto are at the 11th spot in the 14-team table with 18 points from 16 games, while the visitors are one place behind them, separated only by goal difference.

On Sunday, Toronto got the better of Atlanta United courtesy of goals from Jonathan Osario and Ralph Priso. Atlanta pulled one back through Luiz Araujo. The result helped Bob Bradley’s side to move four points clear of basement club Chicago and six points behind the playoffs in the Eastern conference. The Reds have been impressive on home turf, accumulating 15 of the possible 18 points on offer at BMO Field.

Columbus Crew, on the other hand, haven’t been in great form off late, sharing the spoils in their last two games against Charlotte and Real Salt Lake . At Rio Tinto stadium, on June 26, Caleb Porter’s side registered just one shot on target in the entire match, but managed to earn a clean sheet and one point. It was their fourth draw in the last eight games. The Black and Gold have a game in hand over their Thursday’s opponents and would be aiming to leapfrog them in the standings with a victory.
