Liverpool have been one of the teams to watch this season, scoring goals for fun and collecting points at will. The Reds are in the quest to win titles in all the competitions they have participated in till now this season. There are many players who have contributed to the success of Liverpool FC on the field and one such player is the midfield architect Thiago Alcantara. The Spanish playmaker has been an instrumental part of Liverpool’s eight-game winning run in all competitions. Thiago has started seven of those fixtures, scoring two goals in the process. But he’s someone who is never satisfied with his performances and always demands more from himself.

“I’m the type of person that I always want more and more,” Thiago told Liverpoolfc.com. “I’m never happy enough with my performance, I always want more. For sure I came to a club like Liverpool to try to win all games, play all games, and if it’s in the starting XI, much better. I was already settled with the team last season but now, for sure, with the crowd again and with a bit more of a normal situation in our daily routine, so it is much more as it was during my life. Now we are in a strange period but at the same time we just have to adapt to the situation and try to get through it as best we can.”

Thiago on Liverpool’s ‘solid performance’

Thiago’s two goals during Liverpool’s winning run came in consecutive matches. His first one was a perfect long-range half-volley against FC Porto, which won the club’s Goal of the Month competition for November. He followed that up by finding the net in an Anfield victory over Southampton.

“In the position that I am, more assists and more goals – we want this as much as we can,” he said. “But I am more than pleased with the team performances, that we win the games, being solid and also doing this kind of solid performance that we do mostly every game right now.”

Liverpool registered a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on Thursday and currently occupy second place in the Premier League table – one point behind leaders Manchester City. The Reds also eased through their Champions League group, winning all six fixtures to set up a last-16 meeting with Internazionale.

“Right now, if the season ends in a month, I can say that we are ready to play for everything or to achieve everything,” Thiago said. “But I think it’s too early to say that we want to win this and this, but we are a team that wants that. We want to win every game, as I’ve said before – every title that is possible, every trophy that is possible. So, we are here for that and will try for it.”

‘Absolutely deserved’

Jurgen Klopp feels that Liverpool’s 3-1 come-from-behind victory against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Thursday was an “absolutely deserved” win. In the post-match press conference, Klopp touched on several points, including having to work hard for the three points.

Asked about Liverpool ‘putting a lot in’ to get the three points, he replied, “No problem with that, that’s the Premier League. The opponent is obviously fighting for staying in the league, put everything in, threw everything on the pitch, had a very defensive organisation, went 1-0 up – so this is the recipe for a difficult game. But we still won it – absolutely deserved and that’s it pretty much.”
