It doesn’t matter if your team has the world’s most skilled inverted full-back, the strongest box-to-box midfielder, or the smoothest playmaker if they lack a striker who can consistently score goals. All of those factors are not even close to as important as having a player who can score goals. When ranking the top strikers in the world, goal scoring rate is not the most crucial factor to take into account. A variety of different factors need to be taken into account due to the job’s evolution and subsequent complexity.

Here are three strikers that impressed the most in 2022.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is a freak of nature and an amazing anomaly. The 6’5″ Norwegian superstar possesses a devilish turn of speed. Anyone who questioned whether Haaland’s terrifying form would carry over to the brutal and vicious Premier League has been proven wrong. Due to his knack for scoring goals, he found himself in Pep Guardiola’s warm embrace at Manchester City. Haaland’s game is straightforward because there is currently no known way to stop or at least slow down the enormous Norwegian.

Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe’s rise to superstardom was inevitable as soon as he made his breakthrough at Monaco as a 17-year-old during the 2016–17 season. Mbappe joined PSG right away, and many consider him to be the most powerful figure in the French capital today. Mbappe is already PSG’s second-leading scorer of all time despite not having won the Champions League. He has won numerous league titles, the World Cup, and numerous other competitions. The vivacious Frenchman is on track to dominate the sport for the entire decade of 2020 after accomplishing so much in such a brief period of time.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus is a favourite of Pep Guardiola, and it is easy to see why after his stellar debut for Arsenal. Jesus helped the Gunners change in 2022–2023, and Pep praised the Brazilian’s skill when he was not in possession of the ball. Jesus’ influence extends beyond straightforward aims and supports. He is extremely strong, effective when facing the goal, and unyielding without the ball. It is almost impossible to notice his samba dribbling skills because of how talented he is in so many other areas. The versatile forward, a four-time Premier League champion, played a variety of distinct tactical roles for Manchester City. While playing for the Etihad, he was egregiously underpaid, and Mikel Arteta appears to have let him loose in north London.
