Talleres Córdoba will host Colon in the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 fixture at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on Wednesday evening. The two Argentine outfits are heading into the continental tie on the back of defeats. The hosts were defeated 2-0 by Central Cordoba last Saturday, while Colon suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Huracan on the same day, in their respective Argentine Primera Division fixtures. Talleres finished second behind Flamengo in Group H to advance to the last-16 stage of the competition, while the visitors claimed top spot in Group G.

On Friday, Claudio Riano’s brace handed Talleres their third league defeat of the season in five games. However, the Blue and White were impressive in the group stage of Copa Libertadores, securing three wins and two draws in six games to pocket 11 points, 7 more than third-placed Universidad Catolica in Group H. Meanwhile Pedro Caixinha’s side are unbeaten in their last four matches in this competition, winning their final group game against Universidad Catolica at the end of May.
Colon, on the other hand, just like Talleres, haven’t had the best of starts to the domestic campaign, registering one win, two draws and two defeats in five games so far. In their last game against Huracan, Benjamin Garre’s lone strike was enough to separate the two sides at Estadio Brigadier Gral E. Lopez. However, in the group stage of the continental competition, Julio Cesar Falconi’s side picked up ten points from their six games to secure top spot. The Santa Fe-based side have lost all of their last three games across all competitions.

Talleres has no injury issues and Caixinha would have a fully fit squad at his disposal. Enzo Diaz and Federico Girotti, who netted Talleres’ last goals during their last win against Sarmiento on June 5, would lead the attack. As for Colon, Augusto Schott and Andrew Teuten are sidelined with injuries. Facundo Farias is expected to lead the attack Formica playing behind him. Meanwhile Leandro Ojeda could replace Tomas Moschion in the middle of the park.
