Belgium will begin a new era under Domenico Tedesco following their disastrous World Cup campaign. The Red Devils entered the tournament with a star-studded squad but failed to make it out of the group stage – something not many saw coming. It has seen the departure of their previous manager Roberto Martinez and he was replaced by Domenico Tedesco. The Belgium side will now be keen to bounce back from the disappointment in Qatar when they travel to Friends Arena for a Euro 2024 qualifier against Sweden.

For both countries, the European Championship will act as a redemption. Sweden did not even make it to the World Cup finals, having lost the playoff final against Poland. That result saw them go through a poor run of form. They then lost four of their six Nations League games to finish at the bottom of League B Group 4. However, things are finally starting to look good for Sweden after they registered four straight friendly victories. The countries they defeated were Mexico, Algeria, Finland and Iceland.

On the other hand, it would be interesting to see how Belgium responds. With the golden generation of the country looks set to be over, it will be interesting to see in what direction the new manager would guide them. They still have a lot of quality players in their squad and quite a few promising young players coming up the ranks. Hence, Belgium can still pose a massive threat to any side they face on a given day. With a lot riding on this game, it would be difficult to call a winner from this fixture.
