Sporting Lison will host Tottenham Hotspur in a Group D fixture of the Champions League at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday. Sporting thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 last Tuesday, while Spurs defeated Marseille 2-0 on the same day. Meanwhile Tottenham’s weekend Premier League fixture against Manchester City was postponed in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

Sporting made the trip to Frankfurt as the underdogs. But the Green and Whites netted three times without reply. After a goalless 65 minutes at the Deutsche Bank Park, Marcus Edwards broke the deadlock, before providing the assist for Federico Trincao to double Sporting’s lead just two minutes later. The Lions completed the comprehensive win courtesy of a late Nuno Santos strike. Four days later, Ruben Amorim’s side eased past Portimonense courtesy of Trincao’s first half brace and one goal each from Pedro Goncalves and Santos in the second half. The win helped Sporting to take their Primeira Liga points tally to 10 from 6 games, eight points behind leaders Benfica.
Tottenham, on the other hand, would be looking to benefit from their elongated period of rest. Antonio Conte’s side netted twice against Marseille without reply. Both the goals were scored by Brazilian forward Richarlison in the last quarter of the match. It wasn’t a convincing performance from the Premier League outfit as they failed to create enough clear cut chances despite playing almost the entire second half against 10-man after the Marseille defender Chancel Mangulu received a red card. Meanwhile Spurs would be aiming to take their unbeaten run of the season to eight games, when they travel to Lisbon on Tuesday.

As for Spurs, Brazilian Lucas Moura is nursing a tendon injury. Kane, Richarlison and Son Heung-min are likely to form the front-three with Ivan Perisic and Emerson occupying the flanks.
