Spain will host Czech Republic in a UEFA Nations League fixture at La Rosaleda on Sunday. The hosts head into the contest on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Switzerland, while Czech Republic were beaten 2-0 by Portugal, last time out. After the completion of three rounds of games, La Roja occupies second spot in League A Group 2 with five points, one more than third placed Czech Republic. Meanwhile Spain has an excellent head-to-head record against the Narodak, having registered four victories in six games played between the two sides. The Czechs have never defeated Spain. In the last encounter between the two teams, which was the reverse fixture on Monday, Spain came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Spain did not make a  great start to their 2022-23 Nations League campaign, securing back-to-back draws in their opening two fixtures against Portugal and Czech Republic respectively. In the first game in Seville, Ricardo Horta’s late goal canceled out Alvaro Morata’s opener to share the spoils. And then, in the second game, Inigo Martinez netted a last-ditch equaliser to make the score 2-2 and share the points. Luis Enrique’s side got back to winning ways in the previous match against Switzerland, courtesy of Pablo Sarabia’s lone first-half goal. La Roja will want to go one step further and gather all three points when they face the Czechs in the return fixture. Enrique has now overseen a seven-game unbeaten streak in all competitions since Spain went down to Italy in last year’s Euro 2020 semi-final.

Czech Republic, on the other hand, began their Nations League campaign with a 2-1 win over Switzerland before playing out a 2-2 draw against spain. And then, suffered a 2-0 loss to Portugal in the previous match. Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Guedes found the back of the net in the first half. The world’s 33rd ranked nations are still searching for their first clean sheet in the Nations League, but Jaroslav Silhavy’s side can still be satisfied with their month’s work during their inaugural League A campaign.
