The Baltic nation managed to secure only a fifth-place finish in their qualifying group, having pocketed nine points from 10 games, nine points adrift of the second-placed North Macedonia, who went through to the playoffs. Iceland’s latest outing against Saudi Arabia ended in a 1-0 loss courtesy of Saud Abdulhamid’s 26th-minute strike. Arnar Vidarsson’s side will follow this fixture with a Baltic Cup semi-final clash against Lithuania before looking ahead to next year’s Euro 2022 qualification matches.
