Sofyan Amrabat played an important role in Manchester United’s crucial win over Newcastle United in their final home game of the season. With the Premier League season coming to an end, every point matters now. United played their final home match of the season on Wednesday against Newcastle. Despite their massive injury list, the Red Devils matched their opponents on equal footing throughout the game.

In the end, Manchester United won 3-2 and ended their home campaign on a somewhat positive note. Sofyan Amrabat was one of the stars of the night for the Red Devils. After a few early nervous moments, the Moroccan international played a pivotal part in the team’s victory, as he bailed his team out of a couple of dangerous situations. Even though Amrabat has struggled to get regular playing time this season, he was pleased with the chance he received on Wednesday.

I’m happy that the chance came: Sofyan Amrabat

“It was not easy, of course, because everybody wants to play. I had to be patient, but I was always ready for the team. when they need me, where they need me, even it was one minute or 10 minutes. I always give my best, in training, I try to help the team. I think there’s only one thing that you can do; work hard and wait till the chance will come. [It’s] maybe a bit late, end of the season, but I’m happy that the chance came and that we won today,” he told MUTV.

He added: “It’s also nice to show yourself, but it’s still not Sofyan Amrabat on the top, how I can play. It’s my second game now in four, five months that I played 90 minutes, so I’m not 100 per cent as normal. But I’m very happy that I showed that I played good, and the team played good, and we wanted to win this game.”

United produced a solid performance at the weekend against Arsenal but got nothing to show for it after losing the game 1-0. Amrabat felt that performance gave the team confidence for the Newcastle game. “I think if you play like this, we’re a very good team, a strong team and difficult to win against. In general, in football, when you play good, when you win games, it gives confidence. I think that’s a fact,” he explained.

The midfielder added: “Against Arsenal, we played very good. I think we deserved more. And today we played again a very good performance. Football starts with that; making good performances and then when you play good, maybe sometimes you have also the luck with you, you score goals, and we make some nice and good saves. It gives a lot of confidence when you win games and play good.”
