League leaders Shamrock Rovers have been going through a dark patch, having won just two of their last five games while two of those ended in defeats. Despite picking up just seven points from a possible 15 in their last five games, the Hoops have a five point lead at the summit of the standings. At Oriel Park on Friday night, Robbie Benson’s lone strike, nine minutes from time, was enough to hand a defeat to the Shamrock Rovers. With 16 more games still left to play, Hoops will be desperate to return to winning ways and build another winning run to increase their chances of winning a third straight Irish top flight trophy.
Bohemians, on the other hand, would be hoping to close the gap on Derry City, who occupy the third and final European spot. At Dalymount Park, the Gypsies got the better of Shelbourne courtesy of Dawson Devoy’s 13th minute goal. Although Bohemian centre-back Ciaran Kelly received a red card in the 54th minute, Keith Long’s side managed to hold on to the slender lead and pocketed all three points. Prior to that, the Bohs were held to a 1-1 draw by Drogheda United before suffering a humiliating 3-0 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic.
Shamrock Rovers midfielder Ronan Finn, who is serving a seven-match suspension after being sent off against Dundalk, will not be available for selection. Meanwhile Graham Burke will back from a suspension of his own to join Rory Gaffney and Daniel Mandroiu up front. As for Bohemians, central defender Claran Kelly had received a red card in the previous game against Shelbourne Therefore James Finnerty is expected to partner Jordan Doherty in the heart of the defence.
Shamrock Rovers probable starting lineup: Mannus; Hoare, Lopes, Grace; Cotter, Towell, O’Neil, Kavanagh; Gaffney, Burke, Mandroiu.
Bohemians probable starting lineup: Ryan; Murphy, Finnerty, Doherty, Flores; Coote, Devoy, Levingston; Burt, Ogedi-Uzokwe, Omochere
