Sergio Aguero is one of the most popular strikers of all time. Aguero’s ability to score goals consistently and in the most wonderful manner possible made him a fan-favourite. The Argentine attacker is reunited with best friend Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona, having signed on a free transfer following the conclusion of his contract at Manchester City. While fans believe that they know every aspect about Aguero, there are certain things about his life that they may not be aware of. Here is a look at six of them:

1) The origin of ‘Kun’

Aguero used to watch a Japanese anime series called Kum Kum as a child. This resulted in his grandparents calling him ‘Kun’ because of a similarity between him and the character. The name has struck ever since.

2) Youngest ever to feature in a top flight game in Argentina

Aguero was the youngest player to ever feature in a top-flight game in Argentina. He was just 15 years, 1 month and 13 days old when he came on for Independiente. The Argentine surpassed the previous record set by his future father-in-law Diego Maradona.

3) Olympic champion with Lionel Messi

Aguero was a part of the Argentina team that won the Gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. Lionel Messi was further a part of the same team. The duo have gone on to play alongside each other regularly for the senior team.

4) His own song

Aguero can be seen dancing and singing to a song that has been named after him, having been penned by an Argentine ‘cumbia’ band called Los Leales. It is easily available online and should not prove too tough to search.

5) Streamer

Aguero has become a huge fan of live-streaming since the height of lockdown. He has a massively popular Twitch account along with his own e-sports channel called KRU.

6) Different surnames for six siblings

Sergio is the second in a family of seven children. However, he is the only one who uses his mother’s surname Aguero. The others are called Del Castillo after his father interestingly.
