Seattle Sounders will host Portland Timbers in a Major League Soccer (MLS) fixture at Lumen field on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a convincing 2-0 win at Toronto FC while Portland Timbers were held to a 2-2 draw at Nashville last weekend. The Sounders occupy seventh spot in the Western conference table with 26 points from 17 games, while the visitors are three places below them, with 23 points from 19 games.

Last Saturday, at BMO field, Sounders netted twice through Dylan Teves and Freddy Montero to take all three points. It was a very clinical performance from the Rave Green as they had just 38% of ball possession and registered only four shots on target, but managed to find the back of the net twice. Brian Schmetzer’s side has a solid defence which is very hard to break down while they are very lethal on the counter-attacks. The back-four has conceded just five goals in their previous eight MLS games, including four clean sheets.

Portland Timbers, on the other hand, came from behind to earn a point at Nashville. Goals from Sean Davis and Hany Mukhtar gave a two goal lead to Nashville, but after the break, the Timbers came out all guns blazing to level the score courtesy of strikes from Darion Asprilla and Jaroslaw Niezgoda. Giovanni Savarese’s side have been very impressive going forward, scoring eight times in four matches since the end of the June international window (June 18), which is tied for the most in the league over that time period.
