Since achieving qualification for the World Cup, Saudi Arabia’s form hasn’t been great, losing two consecutive games against Colombia and Venezuela with a scoreline of 1-0. Despite recording more than 50% of ball possession, Herve Renard’s side struggled to create enough goal-scoring chances and could’t find the back of the net in both the games. In their last outing against Venezuela, Nahuel Ferraresi’s 37th-minute goal separated the two sides at Estadio Nueva Condomina.
Ecuador, on the other hand, are undefeated in their last four games across all competitions and that includes a 1-1 draw against Argentina in their last World Cup qualification match on March 29. La Tri’s preparations for the global event began with a 1-0 win over Nigeria before playing out a goalless draw against Mexico, and then got the better of Cape Verde, courtesy of Jordy Caicedo’s lone goal from the penalty spot on June 12.
